Your Opportunity:The position is responsible for training and supporting site and/or program based staff who perform IPC-related functions such as hand hygiene reviews and personal protective equipment (PPE) coaching. The successful candidate will offer support either in person or virtual to multiple sites and programs within their assigned zone(s) to complete their assigned duties. They will provide information to unit and site leadership as required. The incumbent may be asked to participate in the delivery of specific components of IPC education (such as PPE and hand hygiene), or other project work as time allows. Some travel outside their zone may be required. This position reports to the IPC Zone Director/ Executive Director, works closely with the IPC Project Manager and will collaborate with zone IPC staff. In addition, support expands to AHS contracted service providers, including continuing care and long-term care facilities and hospices. The incumbent may also perform quality reviews using standardized tools and methods across the continuum of care as required. Hand hygiene compliance is one of AHS' performance measures and aligns with all four of AHS' Foundational Strategies, in particular the Patient First Strategy and People Strategy. Proper hand hygiene practices and proper use of PPE is critical to preventing the spread of microorganisms within AHS facilities and between staff, physicians, patients, families and visitors.Description:Overtly observing the Hand Hygiene practices of staff, affiliates and others in the patient care environment. Entering data into e-technology e.g. iPad with software like Hand Hygiene Pro for the purposes of hand hygiene compliance with AHS policy and procedures, in the AHS. Completing the prescribed number of reviews per service area per site based on goals and objectives as set. Regularly communicating the PM on the number of reviews completed and sites visited. Training and supporting Site Based Hand Hygiene Reviewers. Being familiar with the AHS Hand Hygiene Policy and Procedure. Completing all training activities. Performing quality reviews in their assigned zone and other areas of the province if required. Completing the review tools in a standardized manner. Communicating with the project lead and other team members for advice and to maintain consistency in review tool completion. Completing reports on HH reviews performed on units and facilities –sharing with respective unit manager and staff in daily and weekly meetings. Will influence clinical and non-clinical stakeholders by acting as a role model for HH best practices in the zone. Making recommendations to improve quality review processes. Identifying challenges and barriers to HH. Sharing insights regarding barriers to compliance with expected AHS behaviours based on P&P.
