Job Description

Your Opportunity:The Critical Care Health Care Aide is to assist with the provision of direct and indirect patient care services under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Other responsibilities and key skills include: organization and maintenance of specified equipment and supplies to support patient care in the critical care units proficiency in accessing and utilizing computerized systems excellent verbal and written communication skills, including effective communication with the inter-professional team. Ability to respond to emergencies and to perform as a member of the Code Blue response team. Maintaining professional practice including but not limited to mentoring of unit staff, ongoing professional development, promotion of a positive supportive work environment, and demonstration of professional accountability. Promotion of a healthy, respectful and safe practice environment.Description:As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you are responsible for providing personal assistance, supporting activities of daily living and providing comfort and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support. You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:Active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Must provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory at https://www.albertahcadirectory.com/health-care-aides/confirmation/. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum; and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification.Additional Required Qualifications:Able to prioritize work and cope with frequent interruptions. Demonstrated ability to maintain a professional image, manage stressful situations with empathy and to remain calm, courteous and tactful at all times.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with patient and family centered care and collaborative practice preferred.Quick Apply
