Job Title Indigenous Student Advisor (Program Specialist)Position DetailsIikaisskini Indigenous Services is focused on providing support, guidance, and cultural connection for Indigenous students to achieve academic success during their educational journey at the University of Lethbridge. Under the direction of the Manager of Iikaisskini, the Indigenous Student Advisor will be responsible for integrating a holistic approach to support and guide Indigenous Students towards academic success. In this role, the Indigenous Student Advisor will focus on one-to-one support and guidance to students while referring students to the appropriate services and programs within the U of L or external Lethbridge community.It is important for the incumbent to have a good knowledge of university programs and courses and to develop close relationships with academic advisors and others to ensure students receive the correct information to succeed. The incumbent will also develop and maintain project plans and financial budgets.Position QualificationsThe successful candidate will have a Bachelors Degree preferably in Management or a related discipline. Applicants must have the skills to build positive relationships with students, assisting with project planning and events, communication support, and liaise and refer to internal U of L departments, faculty and staff.In addition, the applicant will facilitate specialized protocol and communication both off and on campus.
