Job Description

Your Opportunity:Reporting to the Unit Manager of the Intensive Care Unit, the Clinical Educator is responsible and accountable for front-line clinical education and orientation, acting as a resource and in a consultative capacity for a team of multidisciplinary health care providers. The Clinical Educator is actively involved in the ongoing development, implementation and maintenance of clinical practice standards and evidence-informed practice. The Clinical Educator position demands demonstrated ability in change management, strategic and collaborative leadership.Description:As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator in support of both nursing staff and the multi-disciplinary clinical team. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 5 years of experience in critical care nursing. Minimum 2 years of charge nurse experience. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification or equivalent. Expertise working with electronic health information systems (e.g., E-Critical, Meditech, OE, EMR). Research skills with the ability to gather and analyze information and data. Strong ability to navigate Knowledge Resource Service: utilizing all policy, procedure, and best practice standards, evidence based practice, and clinical practice guidelines. Access to and ability to use Alberta Netcare. Proven ability and skill with Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Publisher. Proven leadership and communication skills that include demonstrated ability and comfort with teaching, decision making, coaching for performance, and inspiring/building confidence in others Ability to positively influence an environment of patient safety, evidence-informed practice and continuous quality improvement. Ability to foster partnerships and strong relationships with internal AHS programs and services, and external agencies. Excellent organizational, prioritization, and change management skills. Demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Ability to maintain effective, respectful working relationships and effectively manage conflict. Ability to follow and adhere to AHS policies, procedures, goals and objectives.Preferred Qualifications:Baccalaureate Degree. Master’s Degree in nursing or equivalent health related degree. Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) Critical Care Nursing certification. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
