Job Description

Your Opportunity:Precise, analytical, and detail-oriented, you’re a laboratory assistant with excellent interpersonal, customer service, and trouble shooting skills. Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) is looking for someone like you for the role of Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) II. Responsible for a variety of laboratory functions, including procurement, handling, processing, and dispatching of specimens. You will provide direction to MLA staff and coordinate technical functions including; monitoring of daily operations, providing feedback, coaching and support to staff. The MLA II assists the Clinical Supervisor with organizing and providing direction for process improvement as well as the training of new staff. You will also be responsible for responding to inquiries, cleaning, monitoring and preventative maintenance of lab equipment and work areas, maintaining common supplies, updating inventories and data sheets and participating in lab quality and safety requirements.

Required Qualifications:Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program.Additional Required Qualifications:Recent experience (within the last 1-3 years) leading, coaching and supporting other MLA’s. Excellent phlebotomy skills are required.Preferred Qualifications:Proficient computer skills with knowledge of Laboratory Information Systems.
