Job Description

Position Summary: Position Summary: Maintenance WorkerLooking for people with mechanical aptitude who are interested in a general maintenance role in a fast moving food processing plant. Ideal candidate would have formal or informal experience (backyard mechanic) in dealing with electrical, mechanical, welding, power engineering or even general maintenance on a wide variety of equipment. Journeyman tickets are not an absolute requirement but rather a desire to learn and potentially join into an apprenticeship program are strongly valued. The goal of the successful candidate would be to assist the Maintenance Technicians in providing the plant with a high level of maintenance expertise, that ensures departmental downtime meet Company objectives efficiently and to carry out equipment and building repairs as required, while adhering to quality, safety and legislative guidelines.Job Functions/ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions: Complies with the company safety, federal, state and local regulations, plus environmental requirements in performing the following but not limited to;Ø Performs all tasks as per recommended job methods, procedures, etc., particularly on the repair installation of production machines, bearings, seals and their alignment.Ø Maintenance of RTU filters, belts and general maintenance.Ø Carries out preventive maintenance tasks to Production & common areasØ Diagnose complex and common faults of mechanical equipment by inspection and using appropriate tools of preventive maintenance.Ø Through familiarity, knowledge and uses of power and hand tools and equipment in a skillful, efficient manner, maintaining them in clean operating condition. Uses hand and power tools to build, buggies, carts, airlines, castors and rails.o Replacement of solenoids, motors, pumps and gearboxes.Ø Inspect equipment to ensure all safeguarding is in place and functional, including safety sensors, limit switches and photo-eyes.Ø Electrical knowledge to replace lamps, ballasts and familiarity with thermostats and sensors.Ø Plans and organizes all aspects of work and job assignments, in an efficient and productive way.Ø Maintains work areas in clean and safe conditions, removing all waste on completion of job, or earlier if necessary.Ø Reports all defects, errors in production, and machines which may affect the workplace to the Maintenance Supervisor/Operations ManagerØ Performs and assists on other maintenance duties as required.Ø Work closely with contractors and oversees activities as required. Provides resource support as required.Ø Completes tasks at the request of the Maintenance Manager/Operations ManagerEducation and SpecificationsØ Maintains prompt and courteous response to production team requests within the guidelines set forth by Carleton Hatchery Lethbridge.Ø Must Perform Overtime, Weekend work and On-Call/Support as requiredØ Shift Work as requiredØ Grade 12 education mandatory.Ø Mechanical trade certification is an advantageØ Have 1 to 3 years related experienceØ Experience in a Food Processing Plant an assetØ Experience with Live Animals and proper care and handlingØ Be success-driven and have a “can do” attitudeØ Be able to work independently, as well as being a strong team playerØ Strong verbal and written communication skillsØ Have a good safety recordØ Flexible and adaptable in ever-changing environmentsShift - 4 X 10 Hour ShiftsJob Types: Full-time, PermanentBenefits:
