Job Description

Southern Irrigation is seeking a Full-Time permanent Outside Sales Individual who has extensive experience in both agriculture irrigation and technical sales. The successful candidate should be well versed in various agriculture-based irrigation practices, excel in customer service, enjoy working with a team, and have good communication skills.Job Title: Outside SalesLocation: Various opportunities within Western CanadaJob purpose: The purpose of this job is to increase sales and profitability by selling products and building/maintaining customer relationships.Key Result Areas

  • Sales: Total sales and margin goals are set and met working with the Director of Outside Sales
  • Customer Service: strong relationships are built and maintained, pursuing our Core Values of “Wow our customers”
  • Technical knowledge: Having considerable experience already, continuing to grow your knowledge and share that knowledge of agriculture irrigation systems within Southern
  • Teamwork: Excelling within a team through clear communication, mentoring, networking, and helping other team members across the company
Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • The ability to drive and travel, to visit clients in a large geographical area, along with the ability to be away from home for multiple days.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and deliver personalized attention to each, providing the best in quality service and value
  • Work effectively within customer relationship management (CRM) software (creating leads and building a sales funnel, following up on leads, closing deals, following up on purchases)
  • Monitor quote success rates and watch for trends; keeping details on reasons for unsuccessful quotes
  • Sell Southern’s value in our product lines and project expertise
  • Works well with internal teams to coordinate complex projects
  • Gather and advise on information via weekly sales meetings
  • Attending strategic networking events to share the Southern brand and look for new leads/customers
  • Attend year-round training sessions and product knowledge seminars
Competencies
  • Technical selling experience (10 years minimum experience)
  • Technical irrigation experience and associated infrastructure (examples: pumps, water pipe, water treatment, septic, etc.) (10 years minimum experience)
  • Self-driven and results oriented with a positive outlook and a clear focus on sustainable business profitability
  • Reliable and determined; well-presented and businesslike
  • An empathetic communicator, able to see things from the customers point of view and understand their drivers of return on investment
