Job Description

Express Employment Professionals is recruiting on behalf of our client, a potato producer in Vauxhall, AB. We are looking for one (1) Quality Manager.Essential Job Functions

  • Basic Research: Study the structure and composition of food product, and the changes the food product undergoes in storage and processing. Address factors that affect the flavor, texture or appearance of foods.
  • Quality Assurance: Checking raw ingredients for maturity or stability for processing and finished products for safety quality and nutritional value. · Inspect processing operations, develop and improve packaging and storage methods.
  • Processing: Developing production specifications, evaluating processing and storage operations and working with plant operators.
  • Regulatory: Inspecting food processing operations, investigating food borne illness outbreaks and coordinating recalls when necessary. Ensure food safety by understanding critical control points according to Food Safety programs (SQF, HACCP, CFIA and Canada GAP).
Primary Goals (Job Description Contd)
  • Organization of personnel /scheduling/conduct/routine sanitation procedures.
  • Maintenance, training and calibration of lab equipment.
  • Prepare annual department budget.
  • Purchasing of supplies and equipment.
  • Validation of current tests and procedure, apply alterations, and instruct lab staff on correct method.
  • Enhance technological data entry programs and expand into efficient and functional program for all employees in laboratory including micro-laboratory, packaging, and export documentation.
  • Ensure quality standards are met as per company and customer expectations.
  • Respond to and investigate all customer complaints.
  • Understand and consider requirements for customer driven designations such as Halal, Kosher, and GMO analysis. This includes labeling and nutrition and allergen information.
  • Clarification of product analysis and completion of product evaluation forms for customers.
  • Support R&D initiatives with new products and product improvement.
  • Analyze, monitor and report on quality metrics of raw materials and finished goods.
Requirements/Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in a related field such as Microbiology, Chemistry, or Food Science.
