The Construction and Maintenance Division is looking for detailed oriented, highly motivated and independent individuals to perform various engineering reviews, analysis, planning, design and construction functions within their team. The positions will be working with a group that is committed to growing and developing the skills of all its members while delivering construction and maintenance infrastructure projects in a fast-paced environment.Reporting to the Bridge Manager, the Bridge Engineer coordinates and administers the design and construction of the Region’s bridge and water management projects, construction and rehabilitation program consistent with national codes and department guidelines, standards, policies, acts and technical functional requirements. The Bridge Engineer provides the leadership to ensure the safe, efficient, timely and fiscally responsible delivery of the projects by consultants and contractors. The main responsibilities for the Bridge Engineer are (but not limited to):Providing a full range of engineering services for the delivery of the Region’s bridge and water management projects constructions and rehabilitation program Ensuring bridge, culvert and other water infrastructure projects are in accordance with department standards and specifications Ensuring that engineering services provided by consultants are in accordance with department guidelines, standards and policies Ensuring department’s technical guidelines, standards, specifications and policies are followed as well as feedback being given to the Technical Standards Branch when problems arise Ensuring regional bridge projects are coordinated, administered and delivered effectively on schedule and on budgetQualificationsRequired:University Graduation in Civil Engineering with a focus on Construction plus 5 years or progressively responsible experience in Bridge and or Water Management Engineering including planning, design or construction and project managementEligible for membership with APEGA considered a strong assetEquivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of: 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education. Desired: Knowledge of department guidelines, standards and specifications as well as policies related to bridge/water management. Strong knowledge and understanding of construction contract documents. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills. Good organizational and time management skills.
