Village of Lions BayTemporary Labourers(6 – 9 months)The Village of Lions Bay Public Works Department has TWO (2) openings for a Temporary Full-Time Public Works Labourer for between 6 and 9 months. In this role, you will perform duties related to the operation and maintenance of our parks and open spaces, buildings and facilities, water treatment and distribution, wastewater collection and treatment, and roads and transportation systems. We are looking for candidates with municipal experience, drive, and determination to contribute to our dedicated team.Amongst other duties, work of this class involves assisting with the operations and maintenance of:parks and open spaces including boulevards, gardens, beach parks, tennis courts, sports fields, playgrounds, and park facilities;water treatment and distribution as well as wastewater collection and treatment systems to federal and provincial standards;roads and transportation infrastructure including road shoulder maintenance; drainage system maintenance; and traffic control device installation and maintenance;building and facilities maintenance including exterior grounds, interior and exterior structures and finishes, and roofs.Education and Experience:Completion of the 12th school gradeA minimum of 2 years of Public Works experience is required.Technical courses related to public works is preferred.EOCP Certification in Water Distribution (Level 1) and Small Wastewater Systems is preferred.Class 5 Driver's License for the Province of British Columbia requiredExperience operating small equipment and tools is required.Affiliation:CUPE 389Position Status:Temporary, Full-timeHours of Work:40 regular hours per weekRate of Pay:$33.62 per hour; plus 12% in lieu of benefits.Closing Date:May 21, 2021Please Apply to:Village of Lions Bay400 Centre Road, PO Box 141Lions Bay, BC V0N 2E0Email: works@lionsbay.caWe thank all applicants for their interest.
