Job Description

Operations GroupFull-Time Indeterminate PositionAbout UsS NOLAB is an international facility for world-class underground physics research and has anexpanding programme in astroparticle physics and underground science. Located in an air-conditioned, clean room 2 km underground in the Vale Creighton Mine near Sudbury, Ontario, witha suite of surface facilities and laboratories, SNOLAB is currently preparing for the next generationexperiments focusing on neutrino studies and the search for galactic dark matter.The PositionThe position is responsible for overseeing shipments and deliveries within the SNOLAB organization.The Logistics Supervisor oversees a group of staff who operate the warehouse, and second groupwho move materials underground and provide lab maintenance support. It is expected that theposition may periodcailly provide cross-functional supervision through the Operations Division.The position will be responsible for:

  • The safety of their staff and of all personel within their purview
  • Managing the inventory of the warehouse based on all foreseeable requirements and
overseeing all warehouse activities ensuring efficient processes and maximizing productivity
  • Improve operations by identifying opportunities and proposing solutions utilizing
managements system tools to ensure targets are achieved or exceeded
  • Coordinate maintenance of drifts systems including the chiller, AHU, service water,
compressed air and the sewage treatment plant
  • Develops, maintains, and documents policies, processes and procedures for the safe and
legally compliant logistics operations.
  • Creating and promoting an environment and culture for staff that is rewarding, challenging
and consitent with SNOLAB’s core valuesCriteriaEducation:
  • Post-secondary education in business, logistics, supply chain management or equivalent
experience
  • Lean and other post graduate training is considered an asset
Experience:
  • Demonstrates strong written and verbal skills in English
  • Strong interpersonal skills when interacting with internal staff, users, contractors and
consultants
  • Strong organizational, project management and record keeping skills
  • Previous experience in a supervisor role
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particulary in Excel
  • Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance System (CMMS) and incident reporting systems
  • Knowledge of industrial or institutional logistical practices
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, with emphasis on Regulations 851,
854 and 213.
  • Experience in an unionized environment is an asset
