Job Description

Closing Date: September 26, 2022External Job DescriptionReporting to the Supply Chain Management Superintendent, the Buyer is responsible for obtaining the best total value in the acquisition of materials and services to meet the ongoing needs of user departments while supporting all Materials Shared Services initiatives.Join us in the Highland Valley and enjoy a variety of recreational opportunities at your fingertips. The mine site is a 50-minute drive from Kamloops, B.C. which provides all the comforts of city living. It is also close to Merritt, Ashcroft, and Logan Lake, which all exude a small-town community atmosphere.Responsibilities:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Ensure the timely and cost effective supply of materials and services
  • Negotiate contract terms and conditions while maintaining vendor relationships
  • Research and provide information to department supervisors concerning new products and services
  • Contribute to the ongoing integrity of the Materials Shared Services department
  • Ensure all assigned duties and projects are completed in a timely manner
  • Contribute to the design, development and training of ERP system enhancements
  • Become familiar with existing THVCP and departmental operating policies and procedures
  • Other responsibilities as required or as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary diploma/degree in a related field such as: Office Administration, Accounting, Business and/or Marketing.
  • Completion or enrolment in a SCMA designation
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, proven interpersonal skills and follow-up skills are required
  • Self-motivated and capable of working under minimal supervision and function best in high performance work environments
  • Experience in the materials management field and have a good understanding of contract structures, terms and conditions
  • Excellent computer skills and experience with the Microsoft Office Suite®, especially Outlook, Word and Excel
