Job Description

Full Time Assistant Manager - Mission Thrift Store London (North)Mission Thrift Store is a busy not for profit thrift store located in North London. We are a diverse,friendly, and fun community that thrives because of the work of over 140 volunteers and a few paidstaff.We are currently seeking a full-time Assistant Manager that will fit into our staff dynamic and bring tothe table a variety of skills that will make us even better. No day is ever the same here, so you will thrivein an ever-changing environment, work well with volunteers of all ages and abilities, and be able to pivotyour priorities on a moment’s notice.The Assistant Manager will report to the Store Manager directly and will have tasks delegated both infront of store and back of store. This variety of tasks means that you are a well-rounded team player,who can run a computer/POS system (along with basic troubleshooting), lift furniture, buildrelationships with volunteers and customers, and bring ideas to the table that continue to make us thefirst-choice thrift store in London.You can manage your time well with little supervision, you have the flexibility in your schedule shouldother staff need to rely on you in special circumstances, and you are passionate about the work we do inboth our own community and in partnership with Bible League Canada.This position requires and allows for flexibility in scheduling. We are closed on Sundays, but you will bescheduled on Saturdays, and likely some evenings up to 7PM.What we expect from the successful candidate:

  • Strong interpersonal skills. We greatly value our volunteers as a priority; we wouldn’t exist
without them. You possess grace, good humour, and problem-solving skills with the ability tocommunicate with passionate volunteers. You invest in their lives and know them and theirstories.
  • You are able to solve problems with good judgment and make decisions independently.
  • You work well with other staff and take direction easily. You contribute to regular staff
meetings, share your ideas, and are trusted by managers to open and close the store, countcash, and do other tasks that require a high level of trust and discretion (criminal record checkrequired).
  • You have a clean driving record.
  • You demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills for both internal and external
communications (including social media). This role requires excellent administrative strengthsand skills.
  • You understand, agree with, and adhere to the lifestyle and morality policies of the Bible for
Missions Foundation. You understand why we do what we do and are passionate about makinga difference. You demonstrate a vibrant and lively Christian faith life and have the ability to leaddevotions regularly.
  • Volunteer experience is a strong asset.
  • Thrift store experience is an asset.
  • First aid level one is required.
  • You have completed education in administration, business, communications, or other fields
relevant to our industry.What you can expect from us:
