Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION Position Title: Facility Operator I (Part Time)Date: August 2022This posting is for current and future opportunities and will be filled on an as needed basis. Applications will be considered for any openings that become available between now and April 30, 2023.Largo Facility Management Inc. offers Facility Management & Consulting services to public, private and nonprofit organizations in the operation and maintenance of their owned and/or leased properties. Largo strives to provide its clients with strategic & innovative facility management solutions. Largo and its team members, assist building owners in providing oversight in their day-to-day operations, capital life cycle planning, life safety & legislative compliance, energy/asset management along with project administration/management services. Largo is seeking a qualified individual to perform in the role of Facility Operator I.Work Schedule: Hours of work will vary depending on the operational needs of our clients.Job Type: Part Time CasualSalary: $24.00/hourDuties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the on-duty operation of a given arena/recreational facility and its related equipment
  • Operation of the ice resurfacer (Zamboni/Olympia)
  • Performs general maintenance and janitorial duties as required
  • May perform pool maintenance duties at facilities with an aquatic component
  • Ensures the facility is operated in a safe manner for use by the public and staff
  • Completes all required documentation such as daily/hourly logs to ensure legislative compliance
  • Responds to enquiries from the public, resolving or referring complaints as necessary and liaises with users of facilities acting as the building representative on behalf of the owner/client
  • Maintain occupational health & safety standards and adhere to WHMIS requirements
  • Assume responsibility of the arena/facility while on duty and will be responsible for directing and assisting part-time employees if applicable
Qualifications/Skills:
  • Minimum of High School education or acceptable equivalent in education and experience
  • Preference will be given to those with previous experience and/or training in the operation and maintenance of a recreational facility
  • Experience in operation of related facility equipment, demonstrated mechanical aptitude and knowledge
  • Awareness of and/or applicable training under the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Knowledge of the Workplace Hazardous Information System (WHIMS), previous certification is an asset
  • The successful candidate must have a valid and unrestricted Ontario class G driver’s license and is to provide a driver’s abstract
  • The successful applicant will be required to provide a Vulnerable Sector Check completed within the last six months
  • Candidates who currently possess a Basic Refrigeration Certificate or a Certified Ice Technician Certificate are considered an asset
  • Previous experience operating an ice resurfacer such as a Zamboni and/or Olympia is an asset
  • A self-starter able to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to multi task
  • Willingness to undertake further training is essential
  • Willingness to travel between assignments
  • Must have own vehicle
