We design, develop, and host data rich, full featured, and high traffic web and mobile applications for financial institutions, brokerages, and media clients from all over the world.What youll do at Markit DigitalWe are looking for an experienced Data Support Specialist who can turn project requirements into custom-formatted data. The ideal candidate for this position will be able to perform complete life cycle data generation and outline critical information for each project. We also need someone who can analyze business processes needs and recommend specific types of data that can be used to improve our client solutions. Working within an agile team, the ideal candidate will collaborate with Design, Client Solutions, Project Management and Engineering teams, you will be the subject matter expert for the team on data sources and access.How youll do it at Markit Digital

• Able to summarize complex data technology systems and develop subject matter expertise
• Provide tier 3 support – Review incoming support tickets and either provide solution or triage within the team
• Technical aptitude – candidate can self-teach some scripting/programming languages (bash, python, etc) in order to accomplish computer-oriented tasks
• Some background in financial markets (Stock, Forex, Futures, etc). We’re looking for a candidate that is enthusiastic about world financial markets and wants to learn more!
• Reading comprehension – candidate will need to be able to comprehend both technical specification documents as well as vendor change notifications
• Able to manage multiple tasks throughout the day in a fast pace environment
• Self-driven – candidate to be able to identify areas of personal development that align with team objectives
• Contributing member to multiple projects responsible for writing functional data requirements, facilitating implementation, and verifying the requirements were implemented correctly.
• Run ad hoc SQL queries to evaluate and test data sources.

Required Skills

• A Bachelors degree in an analytical or quantitative field, or 4+ years of applicable experience
• Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities, along with an ability to collaborate in a fast-paced team environment.
• Ability to work with third party data providers, understand specification documents and communicate requirements to engineering team
• Basic SQL skills demonstrating understanding of relational databases
• Ability to use moderate/advanced Excel skills (pivot table, v look-up, etc.)
• Demonstrated understanding of financial markets and market data
• Strong ability to multitask across multiple development projects
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Eagerness to be challenged with new tasks and responsibilities
