Across all locations, we are united by our employee values: Be Bold, Be Open, Be Responsible, Be Imaginative.If these are values you share, we would love you to join our team.Brief outline of job:As Head of Product Merchandising, you will be responsible for all Leather Goods and Lifestyle collections across the Women’s and Men’s product universes. Managing the product lifecycle and strategy, from initial collection brief, sampling and pricing to market/buying sessions and sales monitoring.The ideal candidate has comprehensive brand experience in luxury leather goods, a strong knowledge of the product development process, is process orientated with an excellent understanding of the wider market complimented by a business orientated mindset with a strong ability to project manage.Working closely with a wide variety of cross-functional teams and designers worldwide the ideal candidate will be adaptable, flexible, and collaborative to best succeed in a fast-changing environment.Initiate medium term product strategies that lead all categories to achieve KPI’s relating to Growth, Margin, Pricing and Sustainability alongside leading and coaching the team to maintain high levels of growth, performance and working practices.This is a 12-month maternity cover contract. At Mulberry, we have a Hybrid Working Policy for office roles, meaning the successful candidate may work 50% of their time from home.Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create and manage both seasonal and mid-long term product strategies in line with the commercial three-year plan goals based on brand and market needs in terms of re-positioning, functions opportunities, innovations, and price points.
  • Communicate the product strategy and partner effectively with cross-functional teams (Design, Marketing-Production, Sourcing/Costings, Commercial Planning, VM, Retail Merchandising), influencing key decisions to deliver the strategic vision for the categories.
  • Research the global market to identify opportunities and stay on top of competitors, product innovations, emerging trends, materials, features, and price points to successfully launch product collections into the market.
  • Create and manage the collection calendar to ensure milestone activities are respected.
  • Build the collection architecture, range plan & pricing, and lifecycle definitions, including gathering input from local markets/regions.
  • Manage category SKU count evolutions inline with targeted company growth projections.
  • Plan the critical path and development calendar with all relevant departments (Design, Pre-Production, Sourcing, Commercial Planning, Retail).
  • Lead the brand’s sustainability transition across all categories.
  • Gather market feedback through regular meetings with Retail and Wholesale/Franchise teams, as well as store/market visits.
  • Lead competitor monitoring in terms of price points, functions, materials, and trends.
  • Guide the team on the creation of the seasonal collection briefing and present to design team to guide them in the creation of the new collection.
  • Actively participate during internal design proto review meetings to ensure adherence to seasonal brief and actively influence the shape of the collections.
  • Take ownership of the prototyping budget for all categories.
  • Set sound price target and work with Pre-Production to manage product costs to reach desired margin targets on the collection.
  • Facilitate efficient information flow between Design, Pre-Production, Sourcing, and Commercial Planning teams.
  • Lead Season Handover to markets, buying session with Retail and coordinate flow of information to Wholesale and Franchisee teams.
  • Oversee preparation of store training documents, web descriptions and web imagery.
  • Key stakeholder in the management of all special projects.
  • Team management and talent development and mentoring.
Skills and Experience Required:
  • At least +7 years’ experience in Product Marketing or Merchandising, ideally on Leather Goods.
  • Previous experience in luxury is preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and organisation skills.
  • Strong Management capabilities, ability to lead a team, and to work on own initiative and sometimes under pressure.
  • Must posses ability to multi-task with excellent prioritising and time-management skills.
  • Previous experience of working with a Head of Design and Design Studio.
  • Positive and proactive attitude; teamwork orientated.
  • Excellent spoken and written English language skills, French/Italian would be a plus.
