Our students benefit from a small,supportive atmosphere at Brescia while having access to resources at Western.Brescia is currently seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to fill a position as:RESEARCH OFFICER(Permanent Full‐time)Hourly Rate ‐ $32.66, Level 7Reporting to the Provost, the Research Officer fosters and maintains a vibrant research cultureat Brescia by providing both faculty researcher and institutional support. The Research Officerprovides comprehensive support for funding applications submitted by faculty researchers andprovides administrative support for the Brescia Research Ethics Board. In addition, the ResearchOfficer plans education and training initiatives for faculty and students covering a variety oftopics including research ethics, research communication, funding opportunities and processes,and policies/procedures.Key Duties and Responsibilities: Builds relationships with faculty researchers to support their individual research goals,including funding, ethics, publication, and communication needs Regularly scans for funding opportunities for specific disciplines, or student researchergroups, and communicates opportunities to researchers Works with and advises faculty researchers in writing, editing, and preparing external fundingapplications, including budgeting according to guidelines, policies, and requirements Reviews and assesses funding applications for compliance with policies Keeps up to date on laws and policies affecting research process and funding opportunities Scans, identifies, communicates, and facilitates research partnerships between facultyresearchers Creates and disseminates all communications and promotional materials originating from theResearch Office Solicits, collects, designs, and shares tools to communicate research happenings at Brescia Builds and maintains relationships with local and dispersed research office counterparts Liaises with subject matter experts in federal funding offices and internal departments togather information, facilitate grant dispersal etc. Acts as the Brescia contact for funding agencies, including but not limited to the Tri‐CouncilAgencies, and serves as the intermediary between the funder/sponsor and facultyresearchers Organizes and administers the materials, policy, documentation, and meetings of the BresciaResearch Ethics Board as well as the communication of application decisions and processesto faculty researchers Designs, organizes, and facilitates events, including research celebration days and researchthemed presentations for student recruitment days Administers the internal grant process and internal research award process Maintains all research‐related records, data, and databases, e.g., ethics applications, ethicsapplication feedback, ethics status for research projects, funding applications, monies,faculty productivity statistics, faculty researchers’ areas of expertise Acts as the main contact for the Research Data Management (RDM) Strategy, workingcollaboratively with the Provost and Director of Library Services to implement the Strategyand expand RDM education and supports at BresciaQualifications: Graduate degree from a research discipline; PhD‐level research experience considered anasset Graduate‐ level research training and experience in methods, ethics, statistics, and datamanagement Experience in and knowledge of current human research ethics policies and documentation.
