Job Description

Team Lead, Independent & Youth HousingFull-Time, PermanentMulti-Site Accountability for Supportive Living, Housing Alwaysand Addictions Supportive Housing Programs- Application Deadline: February 7, 2023 -Every person in our community has the right to safe, affordable, quality housing and to live with dignity and as much independence and choice as possible. You will support individuals who experience addictions/and or mental health concerns and have struggled with housing stability. By providing affordable, independent apartments with supports on-site, you will be at the ready to provide early support and intervention, when clients need it most. This approach ultimately prevents concerns from escalating to a point that would have resulted in eviction in a non-supportive or market rent housing situation, accomplishing our goal of keeping clients housed.As Team Lead, you will support the administrative requirements and broader needs of the department. In addition to direct-service responsibilities, you will collaboratively work within our Independent & Youth Housing Programs to promote stability and empowerment.Successful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check completed in the last six months.   • What youll be making - $23.98 - $27.36 per hour, rate based on proof of comparable, previous experience
  • When youll work - 70 hours per two week period, Monday to Friday - 9:30 am to 5:00 pm
  • What your benefits will be - After a 90-day waiting period, will be enrolled in healthcare benefits plan
  • Your pension plan – Immediate enrollment in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)

However, please be aware that at the organization on September 29, 2022, a vote was held as a result of an application by the Organization under the Public Sector Labour Relations Transition Act. Until such time as a new collective agreement is finalized, current terms and conditions of employment and existing, applicable collective agreements, if any, will remain in force and effect.
*HOW YOU WILL BE MAKING A DIFFERENCE:*In addition to the regular direct-service duties within Supportive Living, Housing Always and Addictions Supportive Housing Programs, the Team Lead will:
  • Liaise between staff and the Manager with respect to participant access and flow, assist with assessing potential fit for the program
  • Ensure program consistency and that services are delivered with compassion, inclusiveness and accountability in a welcoming environment
  • Provide first contact back-up when Manager is absent, including waitlist management.
  • Support coordination of Coordinated Care Plans (CCP) with community partners and staff as applicable.
  • Assist with resolving scheduling conflicts
  • Address any site concerns regarding the physical property, internal and external, and report to the Property Services Department as appropriate.
  • Professionally liaise and collaborate with community partners regarding programs providing information and updates.
  • Take on special assignments as agreed to with the Manager.
  • Complete program-specific statistics.
  • Provide guidance to staff and act as a resource
  • Support staff with team approaches regarding complex participants, ensuring team stays within their scope of practice.
  • Contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Support decision making and the flow through of communication to the Manager and/or Director.
  • Be an active member of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) Committee.
  • Communicate with the Manager regarding any performance issues or staff dynamics concerns that have not been resolved, with support as required.
  • Support the orientation and training of new staff and existing staff.
  • Support the interviewing and recruitment process for potential and new employees.
  • Complete relief supervisions and annual reviews as applicable/assigned
  • Other duties as required
*WHAT YOULL NEED TO APPLY:*Vaccination RequirementsCMHA Thames Valley Addiction & Mental Health Services requires that all staff members be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, with the rare exemption of those individuals who cannot be vaccinated due to approved exemptions (medical reasons or religious grounds as recognized in the Ontario Human Rights Code). Proof of full vaccination or approval of exemption will be required; further details will be provided to those candidates moving forward in the recruitment process.Police Vulnerable Sector Check RequirementsSuccessful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check completed in the last six months.   • Degree or diploma in a health or social science discipline
  • Strong knowledge of appropriate mental health, addiction, problem gaming / gambling and other community resources for system navigation and referral
  • Demonstrated experience with risk assessments and crisis support
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Mental Health Act and PHIPA
  • Strong computer skills; ability to utilize basic Word and Excel documents
  • Current, clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work regularly

  • Registration with a professional college (i.e. OCSWSSW, CNO, CRPO, CPSO, COTO, CPO)
  • Certification in ASIST and First Aid & CPR
