Posting PeriodOpen: December 24, 2022Deadline: January 8, 2023Non-UnionDepartment NameLawson Health Research Institute (Lawson) is the research institute of London Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph’s Health Care London. As one of Canada’s top ten research institutes, we are committed to furthering scientific knowledge to advance health care around the world.The Research Associate collaborates with the Investigators to assume responsibility for coordination of several studies for the Department of Oncology (Division of Radiation Oncology) at the London Regional Cancer Program at Victoria Hospital. The study portfolio includes investigator-initiated studies as well as some industry-sponsored and cooperative group sponsored studies. This position will provide an excellent opportunity for a dynamic individual with demonstrated organizational, communication and scientific writing skills. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, grant and manuscript writing, protocol development, recruitment of study participants (e.g. identify and screen potential subjects, obtain informed consent), coordination of patient visit schedules as per study protocol, execution of all aspects of study visits (e.g. assessment adverse events, monitoring safety, medication, questionnaires, sample collection including processing and shipment of samples according to clinical protocol) and the implementation and coordination of all aspects of data collection and source documentation, as per LHSC policy and ICH/GCP guidelinesRate of Pay: To commensurate with experienceHours of work: 22.5 hours (3 days) per weekDuration: 12 month contractQualifications

  • Successful completion of a recognized Master’s degree in a relevant and/or related field
  • Minimum of five years recent and relevant clinical research experience, preferably with experience confidentially handling patient data
  • Experience with grant writing and submissions as well as manuscript submissions is essential
  • Experience with Cerner Powerchart is preferred
  • Experience with statistical programs (REDCap, SAS, SPSS) is an asset
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, be able to work under pressure, and have the flexibility to adjust to changing schedules and deadlines
  • Ability to organize workload and manage daily competing priorities in a health care environment
  • Working knowledge, or ideally prior experience, in Human Research Ethics, Tri-council policy, Good Clinical Practices, Health Canada and FDA regulations an asset
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to foster a respectful, inclusive and collaborative environment with individuals from other disciplines (i.e. other investigators, scientists, clinic clerical staff, booking staff etc.)
  • Act as central point of communication for study management
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the principles of patient- and family-centered care
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
Immunization Requirements:
  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis.
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step) and COVID vaccine series.
