Posting PeriodOpen: November 23, 2022Deadline: November 29, 2022Non-UnionDepartment NameLawson Health Research Institute (Lawson) is the research institute of London Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph’s Health Care London. As one of Canada’s top ten research institutes, we are committed to furthering scientific knowledge to advance health care around the world.The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support to the Malignant Hematology Clinical Trials Research Unit. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following; the collection and processing of various clinical trial blood samples, ordering supplies, packaging and shipping of study samples, maintaining and record keeping of supply stock. The successful candidate will also support the daily clinical trial activities including writing ethics proposals, recruiting and obtaining informed consent of study participants, collecting detailed notes of all interactions with patients and transferring information o appropriate systems, and liaising with study sponsors.Rate of Pay: To commensurate with experienceHours of work: 37.5 hours per weekDuration: One year contract with the possiblity of renewalQualifications

  • Completion of a post-secondary school program in medical laboratory technician or similar program, BSc. preferred
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in clinical research including Research Assistant responsibilities
  • Mandatory Phlebotomy expertise and certification
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods / International Air Transport (TDG/IATA) certification an asset
  • Experience in full service study support of Pharmaceutical Industry sponsored clinical trials
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize, execute and manage several research projects
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current regulations and guidelines for clinical trials (ICH GCP, Health Canada Food and Drug Regulations (Part, Division 5), USA FDA 21 CFR, TCPS2 Tri-Council Policy Statement, and privacy legislation (PIPEDA, PHIPA)
  • Knowledge of local REB requirements and Lawson approval process an asset
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills both verbally and written
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the principles of patient and family centred care
Immunization Requirements:
  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis.
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step) and COVID vaccine series.
