Job Description

Assistant Manager – HR and AdministrationKent is the largest retail building supply chain in Atlantic Canada.   • Partners with the leadership team to understand and execute the organizations human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
  • Manages the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, particularly for managerial, exempt, and professional roles; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Manages the onboarding company program system.
  • Providing the necessary support for payroll requirements
  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and assists trains new staff in the department.
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the HR department.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
  • Maintains compliance, employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices.
  • Creates learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees.
  • Assists with Inventory and re-buying department for replenishment.
  • Audit attendance
  • Work with WCB and return to work of associates.
  • Collaborate and work closely with the safety department.
  • Oversee department up to and including Office Managers, Administrators and Safety Department.
  • Audit and delegate reporting action items to multiple departments.
Qualifications and Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.

  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.
  • Maintain a profession and confidential work ethic.

  • Can manage multiple and changing priorities.
  • Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.
  • High detail and well organized.
  • Ability to multi-task and willingness to learn.

Education, Experience, Requirements: * Experience Equivalent in Human Resources or Business would be necessary, along with previous experience in the HR field.We Offer:
