Job Description

Social Media Community Manager - Sackawa Canoe ClubOverview:Spend your summer on the lake as the Social Media Community Manager with Sackawa Canoe Club. We’re looking for an enthusiastic self-starter who’s a natural storyteller and passionate about social media. We want someone who can help showcase our paddling club through engaging visuals, paddler highlights, club events, and more. If you have a strong knowledge of social media platforms and content and are keen to generate new ideas to help raise Sackawa Canoe Club’s profile, we’d love to hear from you!Start Date: June 5, 2023 (12-week term, Co-op terms accepted)Compensation: $18.50/hourHours: 35 hours per week (evening and weekend availability required)Application Deadline: Apply with cover letter, resume and one writing sample by April 14th, 2023Job Duties:

  • Work with the Club Manager to develop a social media strategy
  • Assist in the growth of the brand by raising awareness through various social media platforms
  • Monitor postings to ensure brand message is consistent
  • Aid in the daily aspects of promoting the Club
  • Interact with followers and potential club members/customers by communicating and answering questions through the Clubs social pages
  • Assist in implementing plans to increase followers on social media channels, including Twitter, TikTok (needs to be created/developed), Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube
  • Oversee the creation and implementation of a monthly newsletter to help keep Club members/families, and stakeholders engaged and informed
  • Help create content as dictated by the monthly editorial calendar to promote the Club
  • Assist with management of the Club’s website and external communications
  • Photograph pictures for social posts and for use on the website/newsletter
  • Conduct athlete interviews and write profiles for use on the website/newsletter
  • Create a summer review video or slideshow for the year-end banquet
  • Write and submit progress reports to the Club Manager on a weekly basis
Qualifications:● Must have a keen understanding of social media● Must be familiar with multi-social posting through programs such as Hootsuite and HubSpot● Must be comfortable working with Canva or similar platform● Must have entry-level experience determining how to cater social media campaigns to a unique audience● Ability to use personal phone and/or computer and work remotely from home, from the Club and from regattas● Ability to work alongside a diverse group of employees and simultaneously work toward many Club initiatives at once● 1-2 years of social media management experience is an asset● A degree in a relevant field is an asset● Photography experience is an asset● Excellent written and verbal communication skills● Excellent organizational skills and a track record of delivering on time● Works well independently● Excellent time management skills● High level of attention to detail● Ability to maintain successful relationships with internal and external stakeholders● Commitment to learning about best practices for social media and how to increase/grow audience engagement● Criminal background and vulnerable sector check is required prior to commencing employmentReporting Structure:Reports directly to Sackawa Club ManagerSackawa Canoe Club is committed to employment equity and encourages applications from diverse communities, including: Indigenous people, racialized people, persons with disabilities, members of the queer community, lesbian, gay, bisexual, two-spirit, or transgender people and women.Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contractContract length: 12 weeksSalary: $18.50 per hourSchedule:
