Job Description

LaPrairie Works Inc (LWI) is an experienced highway maintenance and construction contractor, operating long term contracts throughout the Peace River region of Alberta and British Columbia. LWI offers a diverse and positive working environment and offers highly competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits.Worker safety is our number one priority, we have a fully documented COVID-19 risk management plan in place, which has been approved by the Provincial Government.The Foreman, Highway Maintenance Operations, under the direction of the Superintendent - Operations, will oversee staff and the proper allocation of resources to ensure work is being performed according to established standards. The Foreman, Highway Maintenance Operations, must possess a valid Class 1 or 3 Driver’s licence, proven knowledge of Provincial transportation specifications and five or more years of experience in the highway maintenance industry.*_Key responsibilities include: _*

  • Ensure all employees comply with applicable legislation, including safe operation of machinery, drivers hours of service and occupational health and safety regulations
  • Ensure that all employees comply with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards
  • Oversee staff to ensure work is being performed according to established performance criteria
  • Provide employee training, ensuring that all applicable compliance requirements are met
  • Develop strategic area-specific performance metrics and targets that are consistent with company goals
  • Coordinate activities by allocating resources, scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and delegating work accordingly
  • Ensure procedures for inspection and preventative maintenance of vehicles are upheld
  • Inspect road condition reports and track performance
  • Analyse departmental operations and identify areas requiring improvement
  • Ensure that safe work practices are being followed
The ideal candidate has the following:
  • Three years of experience in a management role and five years of experience in the Highway Maintenance industry
  • Valid Class 1 or 3 Drivers Licence and clean record
  • Proven experience with resource management
  • Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills
  • Ability to delegate, set expectations, and monitor progress of direct reports
