The Diocese of Qu’AppellePriest needed for St Mary the Virgin, Maple Creek, Saskatchewan, CanadaWe are seeking applicants for the position of Incumbent Priest, St. Mary the Virgin, Chinook Parish, Maple Creek. The position is full time.The parish is seeking to grow and would like a faith-filled, spiritually nurturing, community-oriented priest who has a collaborative and participative style of leadership. We are searching for a priest who can work well with all ages and encourage the formation of small groups and bible study.The St Mary’s congregation has a Diocesan Reader and others who assist with liturgical leadership. There is an Altar Guild, A.C.W., bible study group and an organist. The congregation uses the Book of Alternative Services and the Book of Common Prayer.The congregation is engaged in community outreach and ecumenical activities. These include a free Christmas Eve supper for those who are alone, a monthly toonie breakfast targeting seniors and those who are in need of a nutritious yet inexpensive meal, and the ministry of prayer shawls and Izzy dolls. Ecumenically, St Mary’s participates in the World Day of Prayer and other interdenominational events and ministries.The building, which is a dedicated heritage building seats 125. The parish hall, attached to the church building was built in 1997 and the two-story rectory is on the lot next door. The rectory, built in 1926 has a newer natural gas furnace and air conditioning. There is a fenced backyard, garden area and a large storage shed. There is room for parking two vehicles in the back.Maple Creek is approximately 400 kms from the major centres of Regina, Saskatoon and Calgary and 21 kms from the beautiful Cypress Hills. It is an active community of 2,500 in south west Saskatchewan. A large rural population also uses the town’s services. There are many small business, a hospital, health clinic, dental clinic, optometrist and 2 public schools. The community hosts a number of events including bonspiels, rodeos, car shows and heritage festivals.
