With the owners still actively involved, our culture emphasizes collaboration, flexibility, and a commitment to transformation.We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team and play a critical role in shaping the future of our business while honouring our legacy.Position Overview:The Senior Accountant will be responsible for overseeing and enhancing our financial operations, ensuring accuracy in reporting, and driving cost efficiencies. This role is ideal for an experienced, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a hands-on environment and is eager to make a significant impact on a family-oriented, community-focused business.Key Responsibilities:

  • Full Cycle Accounting: Oversee the entire accounting operations ensuring accuracy and finding efficiencies.
  • Inventory Management: Tighten inventory processes and improve cost accounting to ensure accurate tracking and control.
  • Financial Leadership: Manage bank and credit card reconciliations, audit responsibilities, manual checks, and year-end financial processes.
  • Expense Management: Identify and implement cost-saving measures across areas such as phones, alarms, and IT systems.
  • Cash Conversion Cycle: Optimize the cash conversion cycle to improve financial efficiency.
  • Project Accounting: Apply costing and project accounting expertise to support building and construction operations.
  • Business Transformation: Evaluate current systems and processes, recommending and implementing IT upgrades to enhance efficiency.
  • Trustamp; Relationships: Build strong relationships with ownership and team members, ensuring alignment with the company #39;s culture and goals.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor a team of four direct reports and other indirect reports, providing guidance and support in day-to-day operations.
  • Advisory Role: Interpret financial data to guide decision-making and advise on accounting matters, ensuring compliance with industry standards and family business dynamics.

  • CPA designation (or working towards CPA) is required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting roles, ideally within the building supplies or construction industry.
  • Strong background in inventory management, cost accounting, and project costing.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and IT systems.
  • Proven ability to identify and implement cost-saving strategies.
  • Experience managing audits and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
  • Exceptional analytical, evaluative, and advisory skills.
  • Ability to handle both business and personal financial matters in a family business context.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
