Are you a team player with a can do attitude, excellent communication and customer service skills We have the perfect opportunity for you!The City of Maple Ridge has an exciting opportunity for a high energy and motivated Manager of Financial Planning to join our dynamic team. This position reports directly to the Director of Finance, and is a key member of the Finance leadership team.We are seeking an analytical, collaborative, and solutions-oriented financial professional to lead the financial planning team responsible for supporting the City of Maple Ridges current and long-range financial plans and programs. The Manager of Financial Planning leads the organizations budget planning, financial information systems, financial analytics and costing, and budget monitoring. The successful incumbent will prepare recommendations and reports relating to strategic and administrative financial matters, while working closely with department management teams in planning and implementing financial strategies to meet organizational goals. This leadership role requires balancing expert financial and business acumen with strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.The successful candidate will have:

  • A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or equivalent.
  • 10 years of progressively responsible accounting experience including extensive budget preparation and analysis experience and a minimum of 5 years of leadership experience.
  • Expert knowledge of accounting, financial planning, budgeting and forecasting, and financial analysis within a public-sector environment.
  • Expert interpersonal and relationship building skills with a demonstrated track record of the ability to create, nurture, and sustain positive internal and external relationships.
  • Expert analytical skills to support monitoring of budgets, forecasting, and current and long-range financial planning with the ability to conduct complex financial analysis and present this information in user-friendly reports, statements, and presentations.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills supported with the ability to plan, direct, and coordinate the preparation and analysis of departmental budgets.
  • Advanced people management skills, capable of creating and sustaining a respectful and productive work environment that inspires teamwork, creativity, enthusiasm and positive results. Ability to lead, motivate, coach and develop staff in a unionized environment.
  • Strong proficiency in financial information systems, such as Ross Financials, Hyperion, Crystal Reports and Microsoft Office.
