Transportation Coordinator and Blaine Lake Bus Driver - Kihiw Waciston School, Muskeg Lake Cree NationPosition Overview: Kihiw Waciston School on Muskeg Lake Cree Nation is seeking an organized and safety-conscious Transportation Coordinator who will also serve as the Blaine Lake Bus Driver. This dual role involves managing transportation logistics for three routes (Leask, Blaine Lake, and Kihiw Waciston), ensuring the safe and efficient transport of students to and from school and, Maintenance arrangements for all three routes.Transportation Coordinator Responsibilities:· Route Planning: Organize and plan transportation routes for three locations - Leask, Blaine Lake, and Kihiw Waciston, ensuring timely and efficient pick-up and drop-off schedules.· Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation regulations and safety standards, including vehicle maintenance, driver qualifications, and student safety protocols.· Communication: Maintain effective communication with parents, school staff, and drivers to relay transportation information, address concerns, and facilitate a smooth operation.· Scheduling: Develop and maintain bus schedules, considering student needs, road conditions, and any changes to the school calendar.· Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records related to transportation, including route details, student ridership, and incident reports.Blaine Lake Bus Driver Responsibilities:· Safe Transport: Safely operate the school bus along the Blaine Lake route, following all traffic laws and ensuring the well-being of students during transit.· Student Supervision: Maintain discipline and order among students on the bus, promoting a respectful and safe atmosphere.· Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond appropriately to emergencies or incidents during transit, following established procedures and protocols.· Preventive Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections of the bus and perform basic maintenance tasks to ensure its safe and reliable operation.· Communication: Report any incidents, concerns, or maintenance needs promptly to the Transportation Coordinator and school administration.Qualifications:· Valid Class 4 or 5 driver #39;s license with an ‘S’ endorsement.· Cost of obtaining the license can be paid· Familiarity with Muskeg Lake Cree Nation #39;s local road conditions and community geography.· Strong communication skills for effective interaction with students, parents, school staff, and community members.· Organizational skills and attention to detail for efficient route planning and record keeping.· Commitment to student safety and adherence to transportation regulations.Benefits:· Competitive compensation and benefits package.· Contribution to the safety and well-being of students within a culturally rich educational environment.· Opportunity to engage with the community and be a positive role model for students.
