Job Description

Construction SupervisorSummaryThe ideal candidate will be responsible for the day to day management and supervision of heavy civil construction sites, while working together with the Operations Managers to ensure completion of projects within scope and timeline. We are currently working on several municipal jobs across the GTA doing road construction. Our work includes, but is not limited to, removing the existing asphalt on the road, paving and excavating. Additionally, the successful candidate must supervise and ensuring that sub-contractors complete work as per specifications such as concrete work, sod, manhole adjustments and electrical work, amongst other things.Essential duties & responsibilities

  • Estimating and ordering of construction materials including asphalt and aggregates as required
  • Coordinating the logistics and haulage of these materials
  • Establishing methods to meet work schedules and co-ordinate work activities with Operations Manager and sub-contractors
  • Managing & coordinating daily activities of various crews and subcontractors
  • Coordinating with City inspectors and engineers to schedule and conduct the completion of city awarded contracts by set deadlines with engineered drawings
  • Ensuring the efficient use of labor, equipment and materials and regularly reporting to the Operations Manager
  • Resolving issues which arise during constructions between the company, city officials, as well as residents
  • Assisting in the resolution of design issues, change requests, material defects and equipment problems with Operations Managers, Municipal inspectors, and Engineers
  • Reviewing and verifying paperwork such as daily logs, quantities, inspection logs, delivery receipts, vehicle inspection, etc.
  • Ensuring high standards of safe work practices and compliance with the company’s health and safety program and policies
  • Identifying, investigating, correcting and documenting potential environmental and safety problems
  • Conducting on site safety meetings and orientation, inspections, as well as daily job hazard safety analysis
  • Ensuring all safety measures and policies are strictly enforced by incorporating safety measures and safeguarding the well-being of all workers on site
Qualifications
  • Strong management, delegation, planning and leadership skills
  • Knowledge of local, provincial and federal health and safety regulations
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office programs
  • High level of sound and independent judgment and reasoning
  • Able to work well under pressure
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
