Job Description

Leadership
  • Lead and develop department staff; including recruitment, coaching, scheduling, developing, training, performance management, evaluation, and when required, disciplinary actions.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with clinical, administrative, and partnership teams.
  • Working with partners to establish support and service models across SHINE partnership.
  • Being a part of, and leading relationships with managed service providers.
  • In partnership with peers, defining a service portfolio and project pipeline.
  • Leading technology initiatives comprised of internal staff, partners, and managed service partners.
Planning
  • In partnership with peers, establish IT processes to support the OVH strategic directions, working with partners through our SHINE program on a technology and service roadmap for the benefit of a unified HIS (Meditech Expanse).
  • Manage vendor RFPs, negotiations, contracts and ongoing relationships to deliver value-add.
  • Forecast and manage capital and operational budgetary requirements.
  • Develop and manage IT budgets for the application portfolio.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and leverage appropriate emerging technologies, to support OVH strategic directions.
  • Research, review, and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of current processes, technologies, and develops strategies for enhancing or further leveraging these processes.
Client Services
  • Identify approaches to meet needs of users, groups, partners, new projects and technologies, and staff expertise.
  • Working with peers within the SHINE partnership, develop and deploy approaches to best meet the needs of our user base.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with peers to develop training strategies supporting current and new technologies.
Operations Management
  • Develop and implement IT policies and procedures to support the application program portfolio.
  • Direct the continuous and secure operation, administration, and maintenance of all IT applications including system disaster recovery and business continuity.
  • Manages the planning, design, implementation, operation and the support of all corporate applications
  • Make recommendations for the ongoing improvement of the applications for both OVH and within the SHINE partnership.
  • Authorize and oversee the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, and support of all software applications.
  • Manage and maintain the IT applications business continuity plan.
  • Oversee the daily application operation activities and services.
  • Monitor software licensing and ensure licensing agreements are current.
  • Maintain high performance, availability and redundancy levels for IT applications.
What you bring to the role:
  • Minimum ten years managing teams within Information Technology.
  • University degree in Computer Science, Health Administration or related discipline.
  • Masters degree preferred
  • Minimum ten years of MEDITECH experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, influence and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and partners.
  • PMP certified or commitment to obtain within one year
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal skills and leadership skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of IT service based delivery within healthcare.
  • Extensive digital knowledge and experience in healthcare, including current landscape, trends, innovations, strategic plan development.
  • Strong client-focus mentality working with different disciplines internally and externally.
  • Proven skills in workflow reengineering, systems thinking, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Knowledgeable about provincial eHealth initiatives thru Ontario Health, MOHLTC, Canada Health Infoway, and CIHI.
  • Able to gather, analyze, and disseminate information effectively to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively handle large number of concurrent projects and initiatives.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and analytic skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure and stressful situations.
  • Demonstrated collaborative leadership skills and effective team building skills.
  • Demonstrated good attendance record with the ability to maintain this same standard
  • Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required.
