Are you ready to join usWhat we need:As the Patient Support Assistant, you will be a part of the health care team supporting the Childbirth Centre, Perinatal. You will work in an environment where the focus is on quality and family centered care with a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction.Responsibilities Include:Assistance with close observation of patient needs; including monitoring patient comfort levelAssistance with basic patient care as directed by the Nurse (i.e. bathing, nutrition, positioning and ambulation)Moving patients and their belongings as requiredGetting supplies, refreshments, linen for patients as needed or requestedAnswering call bells as appropriateMaintaining supplies and linenSetting-up and moving equipment when necessaryRestocking patient roomsCommunication of safety issues and equipment/supply needs to manager or operational support nurseWork Schedule:The successful candidate will work part time day shifts (0730-1530) during the week and alternating weekends, approximately 3 shifts per week (including weekends). They will also provide support to the colposcopy clinic Mondays and Thursdays (0900-1700). Please note schedule may change due to operational needs.Compensation:BAND CU01A: $22.30 - $24.69 per hourWhat you bring to MSH:Completion of a recognized personal support worker certificate or health care aide program from a community college or equivalent education requiredCurrent BCLS certificationPrevious experience as a Patient Support Assistant in a Childbirth unit requiredEffective written/oral communication and interpersonal skillsDemonstrated good attendance record with the ability to maintain this same standardDemonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as requiredDemonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standardsDemonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as requiredMarkham Stouffville Hospital takes pride in serving some of Canada’s most diverse communities.
