Are you ready to join usWhat we need:This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a strong customer service focus to work as a member of the Diagnostic Imaging team. Working closely with other Patient Support Assistants, Sonographers, Radiologists, Porters and volunteers, you will support patient care in an environment where the focus is on quality patient care.Specifically, your duties will include:Working with volunteers to greet patients and escort them to the patient rooms in ultrasoundScanning all out-patient requisitions into the PACS systemsCoordinating daily emergent and urgent ultrasound requests includes decision making skills and the ability to triage many different types of patient examinationsCoordinating and organizing patient flow for all booked and add on examinationsOrganizes specimen transportation to the laboratoryPreparing and organizing necessary packages for ultrasound guided biopsies and entering laboratory orders for specific types of biopsiesAssisting with close observations; including monitoring patient’s comfort level while awaiting appointments and alerting medical staff if emergencies ariseOrganizing patient appointments for ultrasound examinations and responding to inquiriesMaintaining medical and linen supplies and cleanliness of the patient roomsPreparing patient rooms as neededCompensation:Band CU01a: $22.30 - $24.69 per hourWork ScheduleThe successful candidate will work Monday, Tuesdays & Fridays to cover day shifts.Physical DemandsFrequent moderate and heavy exertion (e.g. pushing stretchers, wheelchairs, etc.)Lifting over 20lbsWhat you bring to MSH:Secondary school graduatePrevious related experience, with preference for experience in an ambulatory care/clinic environmentUnderstanding of Diagnostic Imaging procedures and Terminology, specifically Ultrasound an assetCompletion of a recognized personal support worker certificate or health care aide program from a community college or equivalent education is an assetCurrent BCLS certificationPrevious computer experience; experience using Meditech is a definite assetKnowledge of universal precautions and medical terminology an assetStrong customer service, interpersonal and written and verbal communication skillsDemonstrated ability to work well independently and as part of an interprofessional teamStrong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize workloadDemonstrated good attendance record with the ability to maintain this same standardDemonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as requiredMarkham Stouffville Hospital takes pride in serving some of Canada’s most diverse communities.
