Job Description

What we are looking for:Reporting to the Manager, Registration, Patient Scheduling, Bed Allocation and Electronic Imaging Management Centre, the Preferred Accommodation Representative will be responsible for liasing with and educating patient and family members regarding their preferred accommodation needs. In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for creating and monitoring process improvements related to Preferred Accommodation and will work with external contacts to develop new and innovative ways of maximizing revenues.Responsibilities Include:
  • Follow-up with patient and family members regarding necessary documents for preferred accommodation;
  • Educates patients on fees associated with visits, when needed;
  • Report production and analysis related to room accommodation discrepancies and troubleshooting accordingly to maximize bed capacity
  • Active participation in internal training sessions with staff and hospital leaders
  • Work with RCG Supervisor/unit managers to create processes that will allow for increased communication models surrounding bed assignment prior to and during patient stays;
  • Work with IPAC/external agencies to determine types of isolation in order to record PA days/billing accordingly
  • Work with each unit individually to identify specific needs/restrictions and build a workflow that will maximize revenue for each area
What you bring to the role:
  • Minimum 1 year of Community College required
  • Minimum 6 months experience in related role required
  • Medical Terminology Course required
  • Proficient computer skills, Meditech experience preferred required
  • Excellent organization skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Excellent public relations and communication skills with a pleasant telephone manner
  • Ability to trouble shoot and problem solve
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively and collaboratively as a member of the team
  • Evidence of good attention to detail
  • Demonstrated good attendance record with the ability to maintain this same standard
  • Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required.
