Job Description

Kinark has recently introduced a new benefit that gives employees the opportunity to work their role in a hybrid or fully remote arrangement, as assessed for their position, for those who wish to opt-in for this benefit. This role (Project Manager, Lead Agency) has been assessed in the ‘Remote Worker’ classification, defined as minimal days (0-1 days per week) in the office unless business demands require.Job Summary:In 2012, the Ministry of Children and Youth Services introduced the Lead Agency model for Children and Youth Mental Health (CYMH). Kinark was selected as the lead agency for 3 service areas: Durham region, York region, and Haliburton, Kawartha Lakes and Peterborough. As the Lead Agency, Kinark is responsible for working collaboratively with service providers to:

  • create clear and simple to use pathways to care for parents and youth;
  • establish a plan for the delivery of CYMH services across the service area;
  • deliver or contract for the delivery of government funded CYMH services; and
  • ensure those services are effective and accountable to parents, youth, and children
The overall mission of this work is to strengthen the system of CYMH services and ensure kids and families achieve the best outcomes possible.Reporting to the Vice President, Strategy, the Project Manager, Lead Agency is responsible for successful initiation, planning, execution, controlling and closure of projects as they relate to Kinark’s role as Lead Agency for CYMH in Durham, York, and Haliburton/Kawartha Lakes/Peterborough service areas. The Project Manager effectively engages with our partners, shapes and manages priority projects, and ensures our efforts align to our goals and outcomes.Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development of program-level initiatives, ensuring the required approvals, funding and resources along with Executive lead for completion of priorities as appropriate
  • Create a detailed work plan building out key deliverables and processes. Estimate the duration of the project, determine the required resources and schedule tasks, timelines and milestones needed to successfully complete the project
  • Manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders
  • Develop and deliver correspondence, reports and proposals to ensure the team
and stakeholders are fully up to date
  • Ensure all project data/documentation is tracked, recorded and maintained
  • Develop and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with staff across the organization, Core Service Providers and other external stakeholders to manage service deliverables, resolve issues, participate in projects and provide input and advice
  • Responsible for the research of emerging trends and best practices and determines the implications on Ontario Health strategies
  • Where required, deals with vendors or contractors, including negotiating contracts, managing issues and ensuring agreements are met
  • Supports decision making and recommends solutions prior to escalation to the Executive Lead
  • Ensure alignment between Lead Agency goals and Kinark’s organizational strategy, and participate and/or lead Kinark-specific projects that have strategic relevance to the sector
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Requires university degree or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience in strategy development, evaluation, project planning and implementation, and quality improvement
  • 5+ years of related project management experience, managing mid- to large-scale projects
  • Proficiency with Project Management methodologies and/or PMP certified professional preferred
  • Proven communication, interpersonal and group facilitation skills, as well as a demonstrated ability to collaborate and develop relationships with a diverse range of key stakeholders
  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of change management best practices, with a focus on engagement, system improvement, measurement, and sustainability
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) required
Kinark Child and Family Services conditions of employment include but are not limited to successful Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening, completed Pre-Employment Medical certificate, and proof of full vaccination against COVID-19. Fully vaccinated is defined as having received all required doses of a World Health Organization Approved COVID-19 Vaccine at least one of which being approved for use in Canada and 14 days have passed since your last dose.
