Are you ready to join usWhat we need:As a member of a dynamic healthcare team, you will work collaboratively with the interprofessional team and will provide support to the Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists in providing quality patient care.Under the supervision of a Physiotherapist, activities will include:Carrying out a developed patient exercise programGait and balance trainingConducting exercise groupsApplication of modalities within the scope of practiceUnder the supervision of an Occupational Therapist, activities will include:ADL trainingImplementing individual and group treatment programsDesigning and making assistive devices to improve ADL and cognitive functioningNon-clinical duties include:Set-up and management of the equipmentCleaning and upkeep of equipment and therapy spaceAdministrative duties as assignedOther duties as assignedWork Schedule:The successful candidate will work Tuesday, Thursdays, Fridays and rotating weekends. Schedules may change due to operational needsCompensation:BAND R : $27.60/hour - $32.97/ hourWhat you bring to MSH:Graduate of an accredited OTA/PTA education program in CanadaRelated previous experience or sound knowledge of the rehabilitation/physiotherapy/occupational assistant rolePrevious seating experience would be an assetExcellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with the members of the interprofessional teamEvidence of self-direction and flexibility in your work approachProficient computer skills and experience with MS Office; experience with Meditech is an assetDemonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standardsDemonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as requiredMarkham Stouffville Hospital takes pride in serving some of Canada’s most diverse communities.
