Are you ready to join usWhat we need:As a member of a dynamic diagnostic system, you will provide technical support to the Respiratory Therapy Department regarding the general operation of critical care equipment and related supplies under the direction and supervision of the Manager, Respiratory Therapy. In this role, principal responsibilities include: maintaining proper inventory of respiratory/anaesthesia equipment and supplies; assemble, test and repair general respiratory equipment; coordinate routine preventative maintenance with Biomedical Service; troubleshoot and repair respiratory equipment throughout the hospital; order respiratory equipment parts for the hospital and test all new or repaired equipment prior to circulating within the hospital; clean, sterilize equipment, and calibrate machines in alignment with MDRD processing and IPAC standards; assist Registered Respiratory Therapist with troubleshooting respiratory equipment; perform transportation functions; perform cross-functional and/or other duties as assigned or requested; perform other duties consistent with the job classification. In addition, you have demonstrated problem solving and organization skills and can effectively time manage and prioritize your workload. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for staff, physicians, volunteers, learners, patients and families. MSH is a teaching site for Fanshawe College Respiratory Therapy program. The Respiratory Technician will take an active role in the student education program including providing education and evaluation.Work Schedule:Successful applicants should be available to work weekdays 7.5hrs. Please note schedule may change due to operational needs.Compensation:TBDWhat you Bring to MSH:Completion of related Post-Secondary Diploma/Certificate or a combination of relevant experience and education requiredCompletion of a recognized post-secondary Electronics Technician program or Medical Device Reprocessing/Medical Device Sterilization Program requiredKnowledge of inventory control, sterilization methods, technical & mechanical skills related to biomedical and respiratory equipment requiredMinimum of 1 year practical and related experience in a health care setting, working with respiratory therapy equipment requiredExperience with electronic supply ordering system such as Plexxus preferredWorking knowledge and remaining current on required educational manufacturer updates in order to appropriately maintain equipmentAbility to move heavy or awkward equipment, as requiredKnowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and other relevant legislationKnowledge of the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (W.H.M.I.S.)Knowledge of applicable Hospital and departmental policies, procedures, guidelines, protocols and practicesCurrent BCLS certification requiredExcellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skillsStrong teamwork skills with the ability to work collaboratively within an interprofessional teamProficient computer skillsDemonstrated good attendance record and performance record with the ability to maintain this same standardDemonstrated commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as requiredMarkham Stouffville Hospital takes pride in serving some of Canada’s most diverse communities.
