Are you ready to join usWhat we need:The primary role of the Screener is to greet and screen all staff, contractors, patients, families and visitors that enter Markham Stouffville Hospital or adjacent facilities.Duties & Responsibilities:Review screening tools and assess eligibility for entrancescreen all individuals entering emergency department for signs and symptoms and travel based on the screening toolVerify staff eligibility for entrance (ID Badge or other means)Ensure all persons entering the facility follow proper precautionary measures and wear the correct protective apparel as requiredRefer individuals to advanced screening if requiredDirecting individuals to proper assessment areas as needed Way finding within the emergency department Ability to escalate to triage or charge nurse for immediate assistanceWork Schedule:The successful candidate must be available to work 12 shifts and/or 8 hour shifts during the day, evening or nights including weekends, with flexibility to cover additional shifts as required. Please note schedule may change due to operational needs.Compensation:$18.00 per hourWhat you bring to MSH:Successful completion of a high school diplomaPreferred enrolment or completion of health care related post secondary educationAvailability to work a variety of shifts (days, nights), 7 days per weekWillingness to work both indoors and outdoors and to stand for extended periods of timeAble to wear protective apparel (e. mask, face shield, gloves and gowns)Demonstrated strong communication, customer service and interpersonal skillsThoroughness and attention to detailFlexibility and adaptabilityProblem solving and decision-making skillsSound judgment and conflict management skillsReliability and punctualityDemonstrated ability to work co-operatively with a variety of people in a team environmentSecond language(s) is an assetDemonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standardsDemonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as requiredMarkham Stouffville Hospital Corporation takes pride in creating an inclusive and diverse workforce which represents the community we serve.
