If so, our Markham office is currently seeking a Traffic Operations & Safety Analyst to join our data and technology driven Traffic Operations and Safety Group. At present, we have a portfolio of active projects making a difference across North America including:
  • A variety of Public Private Partnership rapid transit linear infrastructure projects in the Greater Toronto Area including York Region VIVA, the Yonge North and Scarborough Subway Extensions, Eglinton Crosstown LRT, and Hurontario LRT
  • Defining the future of rapid transit in Durham Region and London Ontario through the development of their rapid transit environmental assessments
  • Using our in-house developed CurbIQ solution to drive the data driven roll out of Toronto’s curbside CaféTO program and other curbside strategies across North America
  • Working with municipalities across the Greater Toronto Hamilton Area to implement and develop their respective Vision Zero programs
  • Supporting traffic operations surrounding active transportation infrastructure deployments in the GTHA including several of Toronto’s ActiveTO pilots and designs
  • Planning and supporting the procurement of Intelligent Transportation Systems for Transit Signal Priority and Roadways for agencies across North America including GTHA area LRTs
  • Researching and consulting on Connected and Automated Vehicle applications across North America including in Alberta and California

  • Assisting in technical leadership for the development of micro simulation and macro transportation operations models to support our major Public Private Partnership linear infrastructure projects and transportation operations practices
  • Traffic and transit systems planning and design, such as functional specification development, technology reviews, ITS architecture design
  • Traffic management plans during construction
  • Traffic signage and pavement marking plans
  • Transportation data analytics
  • Traffic signal timing and phasing plans
  • Active transportation facilities planning and design
  • Transit planning and design
  • Traffic signal design, including preparing signal timing/ phasing plans
  • Traffic impact studies, building traffic analysis models, performing traffic analysis
  • Traffic Demand Management (TDM) plans
  • Transportation planning studies, including problem definition, option evaluation, and development of recommendations
  • Technical memo and report writing
  • Collaborating with our designers on roadway conceptual/ functional designs of multi-modal facilities using data analysis and modelling
  • Assisting with preparing the development of proposals, budgets and schedules
  • Coordinating with other design disciplines, offices, and staff
  • Working with and presenting to our clients and the public on our portfolio of projects
QualificationsYoull Need to Have:
  • Bachelor’s degree or College diploma in Civil Engineering, System Engineering, Transportation Planning, or Engineering Technology with a focus on Transportation
  • Master’s degree focus on Transportation Engineering would be an asset
  • 2 or more years of experience that includes technical and business development experience in traffic and transit systems, traffic operations and modelling
  • Working towards achieving P. Eng. or C.E.T. designation is preferred
  • Expert knowledge of Synchro and VISSIM is required
  • Working knowledge of EMME, AIMSUN, and SIDRA would each be beneficial.
  • Skills in pedestrian modelling (VISWALK or Legion) and rail modeling would be an asset
  • Working knowledge of TAC and Ontario municipal geometric design standards is beneficial
  • Programming and scripting skills, such as Python, R and SQL would be an asset
  • Possess a collaborative attitude in working with other members of a transportation team and sub consultants and contractors
  • Ability to work independently with direction and supervision provided as needed based on the complexity of the assignment(s)
  • Demonstrate an ability to work within established timelines, and within project budgets
  • Demonstrate strong communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office applications, including the use of document templates, and be familiar with common document management systems and practices
