The successful candidate will be responsible for both clerical and receptionist duties.Specifically, your duties will include:Scheduling clinic appointments for initial and follow-up visitsCalling patients to schedule their appointments and provide information about preparing for their visitRegistering patients and entering ordersGreeting patients, answering and directing telephone calls to the appropriate personnelCommunicating effectively with the interprofessional teamAnticipating the needs of the clinic and ordering supplies, photocopying and filingPreparing patient education handouts, letters, memo’s as requiredWhat you bring to the role:Minimum 2 years unit secretary experience, preferably in a clinic environmentSound knowledge of medical terminologyProficient computer and typing skillsExperience with patient scheduling and registration modulesExperience with Meditech is preferredStrong customer service, interpersonal and written and verbal communication skillsAbility to prioritize and manage multiple demands in a fast pace environmentStrong critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills with a high attention to detailExcellent organizational skillsDemonstrated ability to work effectively within an interprofessional team as well as independentlyDemonstrated good attendance record with the ability to maintain this same standardDemonstrated commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as requiredWork Schedule:Primarily days, Monday to Friday for 8 hr shifts.
