Are you ready to join usWhat we need:The Unit Secretary is a valuable member of the Emergency team and has a significant impact on the efficient and effective operation of the department. The successful candidate will be responsible for both clerical and receptionist duties. The clerical aspect of the role includes: filing, recording, organizing and inputting physician orders, ordering supplies, photocopying, patient registration as necessary, booking appointments as necessary and performing special projects as requested. The receptionist aspect of the role includes: receiving visitors, patients and/or hospital personnel on the department, answering and directing telephone calls to the appropriate personnel and giving information related to patient care as authorized by a registered nurse.Work Schedule:The successful candidate must be available to work 7.5 hour shifts Days (7:30-15:30), Evenings (15:30-23:30), and Nights (23:30-7:30), including weekdays, weekends and holidays. Please note schedule may change due to operational needs.Compensation:Salary Grid CUP C03: from $23.90 – 26.89 per hour.What you bring to MSH:Previous Emergency Department unit secretary experience requiredDemonstrated strong knowledge of medical terminology requiredProficient computer and typing skillsDemonstrated strong customer service, interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills essentialDemonstrated customer service skillsAbility to prioritize and manage multiple demands in a fast paced environment essentialDemonstrated strong interpersonal skills, both oral and writtenMEDITECH computer experience preferredStrong critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills with a high attention to detail essentialDemonstrated excellent organizational skillsDemonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standardsAbility to work independently with minimal supervision in a team environment requiredDemonstrated commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as requiredMarkham Stouffville Hospital takes pride in serving some of Canada’s most diverse communities.
