Job Description

This is a two year contract with the potential of becoming permanent after one year.Job Summary:Urgent response services (URS) is an exciting new service offered within the Ontario Autism Program (OAP). They are time-limited services developed to provide a rapid response to a specific, identified need to prevent further escalation or risk of harm to the child or youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), other people or property. We are looking for consultants who will contribute in a supervisory role in the guiding framework of URS; Respond, Stabilize, Prepare and Repair. Services may include a short-term consultation with an interdisciplinary team that can include intervention specialists, family members and educators; behavioural consultation for time-limited respite support; identifying additional services within and outside of the Ontario Autism Program; and direct support for families and/or professionals who work with the child to implement personalized behaviour interventions or therapy techniques. Kinark will deliver URS as part of the York Simcoe Autism Network (YSAN).Duties & Responsibilities (not limited to):

  • Provision of clinical supervision, training, and evaluation of URS Behaviour Technicians
  • Work collaboratively with the URS multidisciplinary team to meet client/program outcomes
  • Provision and supervision of caregiver coaching and education as well as the evaluation of support provided
  • Supervision of behavioural assessment procedures, treatment planning, program and report writing
  • Deliver individualized behaviour intervention in a variety of setting (I.e., home, community, centre)
  • Make data-based decisions on clients treatment planning
  • Collaboration with clinical supervisor to develop, implement and deliver treatment based on the bio-psycho-social model
  • Remain updated on current literature regarding evidence-based practices
  • Risk identification and stabilization - Assess the nature and level of a child/youth’s needs as well as strengths of the child/youth and family
  • Demonstrate understanding and compliance with safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for all
  • Remain updated on current literature regarding evidence-based practices
Qualifications:
  • Must have completed a master’s degree in psychology or Applied Behaviour Analysis. Consideration will be given to those approaching completion.
  • Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification considered an asset
  • Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience in the field of Applied Behaviour Analysis and ASD
  • Experience working with children/youth with autism and mental health concerns as well as identifying/assessing risk factors to be addressed in a treatment plan
  • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, good problem-solving skills, and the ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Travel is required for this position, the successful incumbent must have a valid Ontario driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (including a Vulnerable Sector Screening) and Pre-Employment Medical
  • Candidates Bilingual in English and French will be given special consideration
  • Some evening / weekend work may be required
