Job Description

Job DescriptionWe are looking for a Human Resources Advisor to provide support at our Matagami Sawmill in Quebec, under the leadership of the Human Resources Manager. As a member of the mills team, the incumbent will be responsible for HR support, including recruiting, on-boarding, benefits and payroll support, health & safety, managing attendance and disability programs, etc. Also, you will support supervisors and management to ensure compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement as well.Rooted in the northern regions of Ontario and Quebec, our sawmills do much more than transform wood; they improve our communities.What you’ll be doing specifically:

  • Provide HR guidance and support on policies and programs to salaried and hourly employees, as required.
  • Maintain and improve tracking systems (HRIS, training, absenteeism, H&S etc.).
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of Human Resources processes, (ie. Forms,
  • communication, and information needed from employees and supervisors)
  • Maintain employee personnel files as per corporate policy, including electronic files.
  • Assist with the updating of information for health and safety programs, manuals, procedures, corrective actions or health and safety events.
  • Support on Recruitment process, candidate search and selection. (preselecting, reference checks, medicals, etc.)
  • Coordinate onboarding activities and ensure follow-up as part of the employee development process.
  • Ensure accurate information for health care benefits and pension plans for each employee. Verify monthly billing for accuracy.
  • Assist supervisors with labour relations and discipline process
  • Create tools to maximize efficiency of the Human Resource department.
  • Other tasks related.

QualificationsExperience that will help you in this position:
  • Post Secondary education in the field of Human Resources Management or relevant education.
  • Minimum of 5 to 8 years of experience in a unionized environment, preferably within the manufacturing or forestry sector.
  • Must be fluent in both written and spoken English; French is an asset.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS system
  • Knowledgeable of occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Member/Designation of a certified professional association in human resource field (asset).
  • Available for travelling on weekly basis.
