Job Description

Your Opportunity:The Supervisor, Patient Food Service (PFS) is based at the Mayerthorpe and Whitecourt Healthcare Centre. It is a dynamic Nutrition Services operation that provides meals to 20 Long Term Care residents, 20 Acute Care patients (Mayerthorpe Healthcare Center), 22 Acute Care patients (Whitecourt Healthcare Center) and meals for staff, visitors and families. As the Supervisor, PFS you will be tasked with monitoring the daily site operations, providing clear direction and guidance to front line staff in the production and service of menu items while adhering to the health and safety standards. You will have the opportunity to be a member of the supervisory team which works together to set long term goals, recognizing potential areas for process improvement with customer satisfaction at the forefront and acts as the key contact to site administration and patient care for matters relating to Patient Food Services. You will also create an environment of learning for our frontline staff, encouraging teams to work towards accomplishing the strategies for cost saving measures, improving service delivery, enhancing meal quality and continuously monitoring and adhering to departmental standards within a caring environment.Description:Reporting to the Manager, Patient Food Services the Supervisor has direct responsibility for maintaining operations at the site level, aligning AHS, Nutrition and Food Services, and site priorities with the delivery of patient food services. Provision of frontline staff direction. Completion of human resources activities. Manages food, supply and labour expenses to achieve financial targets. Ensures safe work practices and conditions. Participates in the development and implementation of menus. Promotes quality improvement and staff engagement in operational problem solving. Key contact to site administration. Site compliance to guidelines, standards and regulatory directives. The Supervisor position is an introduction to the operations management stream and could lead to other opportunities within Food Services Management

Required Qualifications:Post secondary degree, diploma or certificate in Nutrition and Food Service Management. Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered. Proficiency using Microsoft Office - Outlook, Work, Excel, Power Point. Minimum 2 years direct supervisory experience in a Food Service Supervision role of significant size and complexity.Additional Required Qualifications:Leadership experience in a food service based industry involving hiring, scheduling and directing work of assigned employees. Experience in unionized environment. Proficiency with AHS computer applications e-People, Meditech and Oracle. Demonstrated ability to schedule work, assign resources effectively and think critically in a multi-tasking operating environment Demonstrated ability to manage an operating budget.Preferred Qualifications:Proven organizational, time-management, and decision-making skills. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Must be an effective communicator encouraging active listening, providing clear instructions and inviting feedback Ability to prioritize and to implement new approaches and process improvements using change management techniques.
