Please apply on Isarta.comhttps://isarta.com/jobs/utm_source=IND&job=87638Closing Date:December 20, 2022Duration:ContractContact Method:EmailApplyCommunications SpecialistClosing Date:December 20, 2022Duration:ContractContact Method:EmailEMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITYSeeking a Communications SpecialistSUMMARY OF DUTIES:Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Communications Specialist will be responsible for overseeing Sagamoks communications strategy; developing and organizing content and updates for the website, monthly newsletter, and social media platforms; developing written community outreach materials; stakeholder and partnership outreach; and event and program communication and promotion.RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with the Communications Team to evolve the communications strategy
  • Lead the communication planning and development of initiative-specific strategies for assigned departments such as the Community Wellness Department (CWD)
  • Create and update written content for the website, social media platforms, and monthly newsletter
  • Contribute ideas for digital properties that help convey Sagamoks messaging to various audiences; profile success stories of staff/members, graduates; pitch campaign ideas; and liaise with other departments
  • Verify that content is consistent with Sagamok identity guidelines
  • Coordinate the development of educational programs and capacity building programs (including producing promotional and outreach materials for the community.)
  • Develop, write, and edit reports (annual reports, departmental reports, presentations)
  • Respond in a professional and timely manner to partner and stakeholder requests
  • Provide ongoing communications support and strategic counsel regarding Sagamok communication initiatives to team members as well as external partners and stakeholders
  • Work to create digital and multimedia assets used to support campaigns
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
  • Bachelors Degree in corporate communications, public relations, journalism, English RPW, or related field - or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • We are willing to work with and train recent grads if technical skills and aptitude are demonstrated
  • Prior experience working in a healthcare setting is desirable
  • Demonstrated experience writing concisely and to deadline; experience producing digital materials, including e-newsletters, annual reports and web content is essential
  • Proficiency leveraging social media as part of an overall communications strategy and approach
  • Team player and self-starter with ability to prioritize and work efficiently and independently under pressure
  • Exceptional written English communications skills
  • Experience successfully coordinating multiple projects concurrently
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office, Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Audition, and Premiere Pro are priorities)
  • Experience using web-based content management systems (CMS), such as Wordpress, and/or Webflow
  • Graphic design experience an asset
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to concisely summarize information
  • Knowledge of and respect for Anishnawbek history, practices, teachings, language, values and beliefs is highly desired.
  • Creative and solutions-oriented; passion for communications and storytelling; exceptional attention to detail
