Job Description

Now Hiring Arts InstructorsIn Medicine Hat youll be immersed in cultural experiences of all flavours, from concerts at the Esplanade to festivals along the waterfront to diverse culinary options in the citys downtown core. And here at the City of Medicine Hat, youll have a part in shaping how people perceive, experience, and enjoy the city - tomorrow and beyond.The City of Medicine Hat invites applications for year-round part-time art instructors to lead and teach exciting and engaging arts programs in our community. This role includes creating, developing and teaching lesson plans to children, youth and adults. Additional duties include working within the assigned budget, planning and undertaking field trips, coordination of student evaluations and program reporting.Our ideal candidate

  • Has experience creating and developing lesson plans and curriculum.
  • Has experience teaching children, youth and/or adults and providing student/program feedback and evaluations.
  • Is highly organized, reliable, possesses excellent communication skills and exercises good judgment.
  • Has a passion for working with and teaching children and sharing their love of art.
Qualifications
  • Successful completion of a two (2) year Diploma in Fine Arts, Art Education, Visual Arts Studies or related field from a recognized post-secondary institution
  • Two (2) years arts education experience or related work experience
  • Successful candidate will be required to possess Standard First Aid with Level B CPR prior to employment.

The art festival brings colour and creative visualizations to the outer walls of downtown Medicine Hat. Artists from all over Canada are given the freedom to design a mural that positively impacts the community. Theres a balance between local artists and out of town artists, so inspiration is built between the two.
