Job Description

Join the City of Medicine Hat as a Creative Services Specialist Temporary (4 Month Term), Full time, Remote FlexibilityAre you a passionate and innovative designer with a keen eye for detail The City of Medicine Hat is looking for a skilled and innovative Creative Services Specialist to assist in the development and execution of our visual identity across print, online, and multimedia channels. This position offers a chance to collaborate across departments and with external vendors to create compelling and high-quality communication materials that reflect the City #39;s values and mission. As a key member of the Communications, Engagement, and Marketing team, you will help foster open, transparent, and proactive communication between the City and the community it serves. Your key responsibilities

  • Develop, communicate, and uphold the City #39;s Visual Identity Standards.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to design and produce a variety of marketing and communication materials, including graphic design, videography, photography, and print publications.
  • Utilize traditional and digital techniques for layout, illustration, photo editing, web content management, and social media.
  • Prepare files for print and digital distribution, ensuring accuracy and high quality.
  • Oversee print specifications, work with vendors, and manage the procurement of services.
  • Provide training and resources to help staff across the organization create quality digital and print materials.
  • Act as a consultant and content developer for large-scale projects and marketing campaigns.
  • Manage project workflows, track progress, and ensure timely completion of deliverables.
What you bring
  • Skilled in graphic design, typography, photography, and videography.
  • Knowledge of digital and print production processes, including four-color printing and paper stocks.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate and create consensus across departments.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Resilience to feedback and ability to adjust creative work based on constructive criticism.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor #39;s degree in visual communications, graphic design, multimedia design, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in graphic design and desktop publishing.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Publisher, Microsoft Office, HTML, CSS, and social media platforms.
  • A demonstrated ability to visualize concepts and develop creative solutions.
  • Experienced in preparing files for print and managing printing processes.
  • Be able to provide 8-10 examples of graphic design work.
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 driver #39;s license with a good driving record.
