And here at the City of Medicine Hat, you #39;ll have a part in shaping how people perceive, experience, and enjoy the city tomorrow and beyond.Reporting to the Work Methods Specialist, this position acts as an Electrical Group B Safety Codes Officer, and is responsible for reviewing construction plans and standard drawings as well as onsite inspections of infrastructure installations related to the Electric Distribution Utility. Our ideal candidate

  • Thorough knowledge of the Alberta Electric Utility Code and CSA standards.
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and safe work methods used when working on all low, medium, and high voltage Electric Utility distribution and transmission systems.
  • Ability to articulate technical recommendations to correct infractions.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills, and ability to make decisions independently using sound judgement and procedures.
  • Review, understand, commit, and work in the safest possible manner consistent with Occupational Health and Safety Legislation and the City #39;s Health, Safety and Environment Management System.
  • Ability to work from heights and in confined space.
  • Knowledge of the City of Medicine Hat Electric Distribution System.
Qualifications
  • Possess a valid Journeyman Power Line Technician Red Seal Trade Certificate.
  • Level One (1) Certification Electrical Group B Safety Codes Officer with minimum 2 years experience as a Group B Safety Codes Officer.
  • Minimum six (6) years of experience as a Journeyman in the construction, operation and maintenance of an Electric Distribution System consisting of overhead, underground and network type assets.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Alberta Driver #39;s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • An equivalent combination of management approved education and experience may be considered.
  • This position has been identified as Safety Sensitive and requires the completion of a satisfactory pre-employment drug screen.
