Job Description

And here at the City of Medicine Hat, youll be part of a workplace thats productive and engaged, and one that boasts a talented and diverse workforce.The Heavy Duty Mechanic position is primarily responsible for diagnosing and making mechanical repairs to light and heavy duty equipment and vehicles.   • Demonstrates working knowledge of current methods, tools, and standard practices for the repair and maintenance of light and heavy equipment and vehicles.
  • Demonstrates ability to quickly and accurately diagnose mechanical problems
  • Confident in carrying out tasks with a high degree of self-motivation and independence.
  • Enjoys working in a team-orientated environment, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Highly proficient in the use of computerized diagnostic equipment.
  • Committed to working and promoting a safe and healthy work environment.
Qualifications
  • Successful completion of Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
  • Possession of valid (4) Year Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician Certificate.
  • Possession of a current Commercial Vehicle Inspections (CVI) license.
  • Valid Class 3 drivers license with Q endorsement, or valid Class 1 drivers license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Previous experience operating heavy equipment required.
  • Dual ticket Technician would be considered an asset.
  • An equivalent combination of management approved training and experience may be considered.
