Job Description

Medicine Hat, ABAre you an experienced journalist who is passionate about local news and loves to break stories If the answer is yes, then an exciting opportunity awaits at Pattison Media in Medicine Hat.We are looking for a full-time Newsperson who can anchor and report on local news and events for television, radio, and our online platforms.The person we’re looking for knows how to dig for story ideas, is a great storyteller, has a strong on-air presence, can juggle multiple tasks and has a winning attitude.Other qualifications and duties include:

  • Generating original story ideas daily
  • Write, shoot, edit, and anchor news for online publishing and broadcast
  • Solid knowledge of the issues/concerns impacting residents in Southern Alberta
  • Work under pressure to meet tight deadlines ensuring accuracy and balance
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Develop and maintain contacts
  • Conduct live reports
  • Follow editorial standards and guidelines
  • Minimum 2 years reporting/anchoring in a radio or television news market
  • Available to work evenings and weekends
