Job Description

We are Atlantic Canada STRONGO’Brien overhead cranes are manufactured locally in Memramcook, New Brunswick, and provide an optimal solution for your day-to-day or industry-specific lifting requirements. After over 25 years in the crane manufacturing industry, we pride ourselves on our reputation for excellence as the only full-service crane manufacturer in Atlantic Canada.We are currently seeking a Controller to join our team.Job Summary: The Controller is a key member of the leadership team and performs a variety of finance and accounting duties such as analyzing capital investments, job costing, pricing decision and verifying all financial information. The Controller prepares financial statements, reconciles general ledger accounts, manages budgets and forecasts providing financial guidance and leadership to the President. This position has 2 direct reports within the finance department.Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepares journal entries; monthly financial statements; reconciles bank accounts; including sales reports and backlog for executives
  • Prepares budgets
  • Prepare financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles for Private Enterprises
  • Reconcile bank accounts monthly and all balance sheet accounts
  • Oversee and manage accounts receivables and payables
  • Development of accounting strategies and risk analysis on efficiencies of the operation
  • Job costing; includes analyze and close all jobs; record percentage of gross profit and file
  • Breakdown Maritime province stats on sales and inventory
  • Arrange accrual and pre-paid
  • Process and approve employee expenses
  • Purchasing of foreign currency and perform wire transfers including payment for Vendors
  • Review of all financial contracts, financing agreements and insurance policies
  • Occasional traveling to the bank
  • Process all sales invoices
  • Establish, implement and ensure compliance with financially related polices including establishing benchmarks to measure performance
  • Process weekly payroll including distributing of cheques
  • Responsible for preparing and prompt filing of government compliance reporting, including PST for PEI, HST returns, Source deductions, WSIB
  • Administer group benefits
  • Prepare and process annual returns, including WorkSafe, T4’s, HST, corporate taxes, source deductions)
  • Prepare weekly labour reports
  • Manages petty cash, reconciles, distribution and refill
  • Responsible for distribution of corporate credit cards and monitoring expenses
  • Maintain and record cost for supplier’s consignment while determining landed cost
  • Maintain company vehicle registration, insurance and repair documents (IRP, IFTA)
  • Support to administration for answering phones and processing purchase orders
  • Performs other duties of similar nature or level

Educational and Qualifications
  • A post secondary education with a degree/diploma specializing in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field
  • Professional accounting designation (CA, CGA or CPA) is preferred
  • Related experience working in a manufacturing sector is an asset
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience working in senior accounting role
  • Computer literate, including advanced skills of MS Word, Excel, Power Point, e-mail, AS 400, Accounting software’s
