WHAT WE #39;RE OFFERING:

  • What you’ll be making: Starting rate for this role is $26.74 per hour (Level 1 – Direct Service), with a wage differential, based on regulation ($29.57 per hour for Level 1 – Direct Service, Regulated):
    • Successful candidates who are registered with one of the designated professional colleges (e.g. OCSWSSW, CNO, COTO, CRPO, CPSO, or CPO) will receive the wage differential for regulation
    • Successful external applicants will start at Level 1, with grid progression based on seniority up to Level 8 ($33.90 per hour for non-regulated, and $36.71 per hour for regulated)
    • For internal applicants, grid level placement will occur as per the Collective Agreement
  • When you #39;ll work - 70 hours over two-week period; Monday to Friday, 9:00am-4:30pm; or option of a compressed work week; Main site is in Chatham/Merlin, one shift per week in St. Thomas
  • Your pension plan – Immediately eligible for optional enrolment in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)

HOW YOU WILL BE MAKING A DIFFERENCE:
  • Assess individuals’ strengths, needs, abilities and preferences
  • Assist the individual to identify their personal goals and preferences during wellness planning sessions in collaboration with the CHO team and appropriate supports, while working in partnership with the individual in all aspects of planning
  • Include and encourage individuals’ natural supports (e.g. family, significant friends), clarifying the roles each plays towards individuals’ rehabilitation
  • Assist the individual to explore resources, options and consequences of different choices
  • Champion individual’s individual capacity for independent community living
  • Assist and coach individuals in the learning and management/achievement of activities of daily living such as personal hygiene, chores, budgeting, socialization, etc.
  • Provide health teaching about mental illness and symptom management in collaboration with community partners
  • Coordinate recreational community outings and activities to enhance quality of life and further connect individuals to their community
WHAT YOU #39;LL NEED TO APPLY:Police Vulnerable Sector Check RequirementsSuccessful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check completed in the last six months. Interested applicants who reside in the City of London and are in need of a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) are encouraged to apply for one as soon as possible as PVSCs in the City of London are currently taking approximately 3 weeks to be processed and offers of employment cannot be made without receipt of a PVSC.We require the following qualifications:
  • University/college degree or diploma in the social science field
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Access to a vehicle and insurance adequate for transporting clients
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work regularly
We prefer the following qualifications:
  • Minimum of one year work experience in the mental health field
  • First Aid / CPR
  • Knowledge of Psychosocial Rehabilitation
  • Experience working in a residence setting
  • Knowledge of psychiatric medications
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Knowledge of computerized documentation methods
  • Crisis intervention and prevention training
  • Applied Suicide Interventions Skills and Training
  • Safe Food Handling
